Poly-Bag Signs
These signs have high set up charges, but in large quantities they are very cheap. They are economical to use beginning in quantities of 1,000, and beginning at 2,500 they begin to have powerful price advantages over the other signs. Signs produced on plastic film take the form of white, plastic bags or sleeves that can be slipped over U-shaped wires: the wire frames must be the same width of the bag. Bag signs are normally printed by a web process which is cost effective on high volume sign orders. The bags are low in bulk and weight and offer the lowest shipping costs. There is a manufacturing and shipping cost premium for the wider wires. The tendency of these signs to "bow out" at the bottom with the wind detracts aesthetically from their appearance.

Coroplastic Corrugated Signs

Coroplastic corrugated signs are very long lasting signs. They have the cheapest set up charges, and therefore, signs of small quantities in the range of 10 to 100 are the cheapest. They can be easily put up and taken down. Thus they are most appropriate if a candidate runs year in and year out and is committed to the same message and look. As the medium is not completely opaque, two side printed signs do have a show through effect. As being the more expensive of the three types of signs, replacement costs during and after an election should be factored into the total cost equation. The typical H frames, which are welded when fabricated, are usually more expensive than other bent type frames. A few suppliers do offer less costly L shaped wires for side insertion.

Poly Coat Cardboard Signs

These signs are made from plastic coated, paperboard sign. In quantities of 250 to 500 they have a major price advantage. Quality printers use a water proof milk carton stock - the interior being an all white, opaque, stiff, solid bleached, paperboard core which has been treated for water resistance. This stock is then extruded on both surfaces with a plastic film. This sign is then screen printed, but on one side. A back score allows the sign to be folded - and edges either stapled or glued to form what is referred to as a fold-over sign. The sign is slipped over U-shaped wire frames, which because of the rigidity of the total structure, need only be 2/3 the sign width. Weather ability of this sign to wind, snow and rain is excellent.
